Alex Best from Primary Five has recently been representing Clare Primary School in a new and exciting way along with her special friend, Judy her Pony!
Alex has been competing in the Tri Inter Schools Show Jumping League, this is a competition specifically for schools with competitors from both primary and secondary schools right across Northern Ireland. The competition consists of individual and team events.
On Saturday 23rd September, Alex finished 5th out of 35 in the first round. For the second round on Saturday 7th October she joined a team with The Armstrong Primary and they finished 2nd out of 37 Schools.
Alex explains that getting ready for the competitions on Saturday morning takes a lot of work and organising. On Friday afternoons she cleans and polishes all Judy's tack and equipment ready for an early start on Saturday morning when she gets up at 7 O'clock and takes Judy for a quick walk before loading her unto the trailer to head to Portadown for the competition. Although Alex doesn't mind all this work as she is really enjoying the competition and is getting to know other show jumpers too!
