P7 Building Bridges
Primary Seven have been exploring the topic of Bridges in their World Around Us. They have been learning all about the different types of bridges and how they work. As part of their work they had a visit from Mr Reid who is a Civil Engineer with AECOM. Mr Reid explained a little bit about the work of a Civil Engineer and talked to the children about how bridges are designed. They were set two STEM challenges, one of building their own model bridge using sweets and cocktail sticks/skewers. Their second challenge was to work as a team to create a self supporting ‘Ropeless’ or ‘Friction’ Bridge. This was a very interesting and enjoyable session and maybe there will be some more engineers around Clare in the future!
