Pencil Cases for Philippines - Update
In September we sent over 120 pencil cases to the Philippines where our friends Nathan and Isaac McDowell are currently based along with their parents who are undertaking missionary work there. Nathan and Isaac have been busy distributing the pencil cases to the children in their local area and we are delighted to have received some photographs and information about this.
The pencil cases have been given out to three different groups of children. Firstly to a group of children from the church in which the family work in Metro Manilla (capital city of Philippines). Secondly pencil cases were given out to the children of a church in the McDowell's home city of Tarlac. The third batch of pencil cases were given to children from a native tribe in Pampanga. Many of the tribes people make a living by selling fruits they have picked from the jungle around their home. Very often the people can not afford to send their children to school so receiving a pencil case was a huge treat!
The McDowell family wish to pass on their sincere thanks to everyone who supported this project. The excitement and joy with which these gifts were received really is something very special!
