School Uniform

FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM FOR GIRLS:

Navy pinafore or navy skirt,

Blue shirt,

School tie (navy with a thin blue stripe),

Navy V-neck jumper or navy cardigan embroidered with Clare P.S. crest,

White ankle socks, white knee socks or navy tights,

Black outdoor shoes and black indoor plimsolls. Velcro-fastened shoes are compulsory.

On P.E. days (days will be confirmed by the teacher during week 1) girls should wear:

Pale blue polo-shirt embroidered with Clare P.S. school crest,

Navy V-neck jumper or navy cardigan embroidered with Clare P.S. crest,

Plain navy track bottoms (no logos allowed),

Running shoes / trainers are allowed to be worn on P.E. days ONLY.

Summer Term:

Girls may wear a pale blue and white summer dress during the summer term. Their navy v-neck jumper or navy cardigan (with the school crest) must continue to be worn. On P.E. days (P1-3 only) navy shorts and a pale blue polo-shirt embroidered with Clare P.S. school crest may be worn, as it difficult to participate fully in the summer dress. P4-7 Girls will change into P.E kit before P.E lesson, so should wear summer uniform (summer dress and school cardigan/jumper) as normal.

This uniform is available from the retailer, R. Davidson, in Portadown.

All items of clothing and footwear must be clearly labelled with your child’s name. They should be made aware of where to look for their name to increase independence in finding their own clothing. Coats and other winter clothing e.g. hat, scarf, gloves, welly boots etc. must all have names attached and if these items are sent to school we will assume that your child is confident in putting them on and taking them off independently. From experience, we realise that if a lot of children have the navy school coat, embroidered with the Clare P.S. crest, it is difficult for a child to identify their own coat when it is hanging on a peg. It may be helpful if your child has a key-ring attached to their coat so that they can easily identify their coat. This school coat is not compulsory uniform – any colour of coat can be worn.

P.E. Kit for Primary 4, 5, 6 and 7. Term 1 and Term 2 On your child’s designated P.E. day full school uniform is not compulsory. Your child may wear plain navy jogging bottoms (no logos), a blue polo-shirt with the school crest, a navy jumper/cardigan with the school crest and a pair of trainers. All primary 4, 5, 6 and 7 children change out of this uniform into a P.E. kit. The P.E. kit is the child’s responsibility and can be kept in a P.E. bag hanging on a peg in the class cloakroom or in a school bag. Your child needs to have plain navy shorts and a blue round neck or polo t-shirt. Round neck t-shirts with the school crest are available at Davidson’s clothes shop in Portadown. These are not compulsory but can help your child distinguish between the ‘uniform’ t-shirt and the ‘P.E.’ t-shirt. All items of clothing (uniform and P.E. kit) MUST BE CLEARLY LABELLED WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME. Non-marking trainers may be worn for P.E. instead of plimsolls. Term 3 In term 3 P.E. shorts are not permitted to be worn as uniform on P.E. days. Girls - Summer uniform: pale blue/white summer dress, navy cardigan/jumper with school crest, white socks and black school shoes (no leggings) Boys - Summer uniform: smart ‘school trouser’ style navy shorts, blue polo-shirt with school crest, navy jumper with school crest, navy socks and black school shoes. This uniform can be worn 5 days of the week as it easy clothing to change from on designated P.E. days. If your child chooses not to wear summer uniform and continues to wear full school uniform then they must wear jogging bottoms on P.E. days – P.E. shorts should NOT be worn as uniform. Jogging bottoms and t-shirt may be worn on swimming day. Full school uniform must be worn if your child is attending an after-school activity, if this is not their designated P.E. day.
